Finding the right snowblower

It is important to choose a snowblower designed for use with the power, dimensions and weight of your tractor.
Some categories are recommended for specific uses.

Use our tool below.
Please read the important points and indicate the power to the PTO of your tractor and its width.
Our tool will offer you different snowblowers.

Note: We also offer a range of hydraulic snowblowers for loaders. Don’t hesitate to reach out — we’d be happy to provide you with a quote.

Finding the right snowblower

RECOMMENDED HORSEPOWER AND WIDTH
Be sure that the recommended horsepower for the selected snowblower corresponds to the horse power of the tractor.

Situations which can occur if the tractor used is not powerful enough:
  • The snowblower is too heavy for the tractor.
  • The snowblower is difficult to maneuver.
  • The speed is difficult to maintain and the chute is frequently blocked.
  • Insufficient performance of the snowblower.
Situations which can occur if the tractor is too powerful:
  • Premature failure of the snowblower.
  • The snow overflows on each side of the snowblower.
  • Too steep an angle for the drive line and premature failure of the u-joints and yokes.
The working width of the snowblower should exceed by 4″ or more the overall width of your tractor. In indicating the overall width of your tractor, our selection tool will propose models accordingly.
WORKING SPEED
Make sure that it will be possible to adapt your working speed according to the snow conditions in order to optimize the results obtained.
WEIGHT OF THE SNOWBLOWER
Refer to the weight of your tractor and the lift capacity of the three-point to make sure you’re not exceeding the maximum load when mounting the selected snowblower. Also make sure to keep good traction on the ground on all four wheels. Ballast can be used if needed.
INTENSITY OF WORK
Snowblower models are categorized by the nature of the application they have been designed for (homeowner, snow removal professionals, public works). Locate this information in the brief description for each category, this will guide you in choosing the one in line with your needs.
DRIVE LINE OPTIONS
Bigger drive line recommended:
  • For intensive use.
  • When the tractor is in the upper range of the recommended horsepower for the snowblower.
Multilobe drive line:
  • Increases the sliding capability of the tubes.
N.B.: A version with a special shear bolt is available for the 1000 RPM.
REDUCERS 1000/540 RPM
Use of the 1000/540 RPM speed reducer is recommended in the following situations:
  • When recommended by the tractor manufacturer according
to the operator’s manual.
  • Can decrease the angle of the drive line versus the height of the PTO.
  • To increase the capacity and the working life of the drive line.
FULL FLIGHT MAIN AUGER OPTIONS
Use of a full flight spiked auger is recommended in the following situations:
  • Heavy duty use.
  • In hardened snow and ice conditions.
  • If the horsepower of the tractor allows for it because the snowblower requires 10% to 20% more horsepower to be operated.
  • If the weight of the snowblower is not a problem.
UNIDIRECTIONAL RESTRICTOR OPTIONS
Use of unidirectional restrictors is recommended to reduce the speed of movement without increasing the internal pressure in the hydraulic components.
  • Very effective to reduce failure of seals on the hydraulic motors.

Among the suggested models, here is what is recommended depending on your use.

In all cases, when a TRC model is offered, it means that the snowblower is equipped with a rotating drum that allows snow to be blown without going through the chute.
